Raeann's Story - Zajac Ranch

On July 3rd 2008 about 13 heart kids came to Zajac Ranch for a short week of camp fun. When we arrived we did crafts until everyone arrived. Soon we had dinner and after that came the real fun. We had to find things in the forest that were man made and give them to the Mad Scientist. Then we had a fire and saw a play about the zoo. Then it was time to hit the hay. In the morning we had breakfast and after that came rotating activities. There were 4 groups rotating between High Ropes, Horseback riding, Archery, Canoeing/Kayaking and Arts/Drama. After lunch we had a rest period and then more of the activities. After dinner we had to find Captain Zajac. The first group to find him got first choice of costumes for the dance party. At the party the Rock Star came and said she will take away all our fun the next day. Soon after that we went to bed. During breakfast the Rock Star came into the dining hall and told us again that she was going to take away our fun. After that Captain Zajac told us we were going to become superheroes. So, after breakfast we started Superhero training and we also got to make costumes and make up names for ourselves. Then came the battle. Captain Zajac won the battle against the Rock Star. After lunch we did more of the rotating activities. Then we had Zay-O which was a whole ton of water activities. After dinner we had a talent show with a closing program. In the morning early risers could go to Morning Mayhem and the rest could sleep ‘til breakfast. After breakfast we did stuff in our cabins until it was time to go home. So, as you can see, it was a busy but fun weekend. My favourite activities were Kayaking, Horseback Riding, and Archery. I’m thankful that the Children’s Heart Network sent me to Zajac Ranch this year. I would love to go again and stay longer next time! Raeann Fuller (age 10) A big thank you to CKNW Orphans’ Fund and Zajac Ranch for their generous support to help us send CHN kids to camp this past summer.
